SkinCare After Hair Removal?

Will hair removal when you’re regularly applying collagen creams or taking collagen supplements affect skin care? The simple answer is no. However, there are certain things you need to do or need to avoid when caring for the skin after doing hair removal that will not affect the application of collagen creams or will not affect the skin.

After undergoing heavy hair removal treatments such as waxing, protect the skin with sunscreen because the skin becomes sensitive to darkening. When skin darkens, collagen production may decrease. Make sure the sunscreen is at least SPF 15 and contains Neutrogena.

To protect collagen production and the skin further, after any major hair removal treatment, apply an ice pack or cold collagen cream on the treated skin to get rid of after-treatment skin discomfort.

In rare cases, after a major skin treatment, if the skin is sensitive to the treatment chemical or waxing, a boil may occur. If not treated correctly it may leave a permanent scar mark on the skin. Don’t apply collagen cream on the boil. Contact your family doctor immediately so the right treatment can be applied on the boil.

If you are scheduled to undergo a major skin treatment or waxing, don’t apply any collagen cream on your skin 30 minutes before the procedure. The same goes with laser skin removal procedures.

If you undergoing an antibiotic medical regimen or taking collagen supplements on a regular basis, stop all intakes 2 weeks before undergoing a laser skin treatment. For the women, schedule any hair removal treatments away from your scheduled period. The skin is highly sensitive during a woman’s monthly period.

A week after a major hair removal treatment, don’t do a personal waxing and don’t remove hair due to hair growth if that area is being applied with collagen creams. Shave the area instead. If after a hair removal treatment you notice your skin is peeling, don’t apply any skincare or anti-aging creams. See your doctor to find out why your skin is peeling. It might be an allergy that may need some topical medication.

To prevent ingrown hairs after a hair removal treatment, you can do some exfoliating treatment. This is considered safe even when applying collagen or anti-wrinkle creams. You can do exfoliation after shaving, using a body lotion with alpha-hydroxy acids that loosens dead skin to prevent ingrown hair growth. If your collagen cream includes alpha-hydroxy acid ingredients, this will suffice for exfoliation.
